She still likes to bake.....

My apologies for not posting in so long.....
hopefully new posts will be more frequent in coming.

.....and now she (Abigail) supplies me with an endless list of questions:

"Hannah, is that a nice thing to eat?" (Yes, of course it is, why would I bake anything else?)

"What are you making?" (The same thing I was making last time you asked!)

"Is that yummy? Can I taste it?" (No, that's baking soda and you do not really want to taste it)

"Are you still making _____?" (Yes, you just asked me that 90 seconds ago and I don't bake _____ quite that fast.)

"Can I pour that in?" (Yes, after I measure it for you. Salt is not something you can just pour in.)

And of course, she still loves to "holp" by using a smaller size wooden spoon to stir or cracking eggs into a bowl. Her favorite part is taste-testing. (of course) And she also loves to, as always, giggle in delight with her tongue sticking out whenever I answer one of he questions. (no matter what the answer is)

At the rate she's going, she's going to take over my job one of these days.

I hope that means I will get to be the taste-tester then. :)

Someone decided to murder you.

And what if that person was:

Your Mother.

3. When do you put up a tree? Normally right after Thanksgiving, but this time will be a little late sue to the vacation we just returned from, and the fact that all my siblings other than Caleb are sick.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Probably some sort of toy, but I'm not sure right now.

7. Hardest person to buy for? Mom & Dad (Stephen too, sometimes)

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, when we do them.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I don't know . . .

I simply cannot stand cockroches
I wish I could paint every sunset, sunrise, or pretty sky that I see.
I have worn my favorite skirt so much part of it has turned a ugly grayish-brown. (It used to be a light colored denim)
I don't like spiders, and if they are bigger than a dime or a non daddy long leg type it is worse. And one is trapped under a tupperware about 18" away from my foot as I type.
I am having a hard time thinking of 15 stuff about me.
I don't like any kind of fizzy drinks.
I eat my grits the "yankee way" (with brown sugar)
I have made coloring pages out of my favorite photos (using the computer)
I do not like the so called "art" nowadays

The finished product.

Chocolate chip cookies

1 cup butter
2 cups sucanat
1 tsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 cup olive oil
4 cups whole wheat pastry flour
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. cream of tarter
1 tsp. soda
2 cups (dark) choc. chips

Cream butter and sugar, add milk, vanilla, egg, & oil. Mix dry ingredients and gradually add to wet mix. Add chips. Bake at 350 for 9-10 min.

On our walk this morning we saw an odd looking grasshopper. We did not have the camara with, but I used google to look it up and it appears that we saw a painted locust.

Yesterday we went and had a ultrasound of #7 done, and Mom and Dad decided to find out the gender. We have never found out before, so this was, well, shocking.
And the result? Everything seems to be in order, Thank God, and #7 is a Boy.
He was nice enough to let us see the back of his head, and the fact that he has hair, but his face was to much to ask. (he moved about 5 minutes after the ultrasound)

Once again, "pro-life" Christians are doing back flips to try and justify their compromise of the life issue by trying to convince everyone (including themselves) that John McCain is truly pro-life. However, these same people know in their hearts that John McCain shares no fidelity to the life issue in any significant or meaningful way. Like many in the Republican Party, McCain's commitment to life is about as deep as a mud puddle.

For those of you who haven't heard yet California has decided that Homeschooling is O.K.!!......
.....This is the HSLDA E-lert we received yesterday:

"In a unanimous decision, the California Court of Appeal for the Second Appellate District today ruled that “California statutes permit home schooling as a species of private school education.”

Today’s decision stands in stark contrast to the opinion this same three-judge panel issued in February, which would have made California the only state in the union to outlaw home education had it remained in effect.

Did you need another egg?

A few days ago I was in the kitchen mixing bread.

Abigail was sitting on the counter, "Fatching" me.

I put an egg in the bowl and turned to get some salt.

I left the egg carton on the counter.

And then I heard ....

Thump.

I have to admit that, for a 2 year old, she did quite a good job.

A few Things I've "Learned" from living in the Down Here for 1/2 of my life. (Seven years.)

People down here have this odd veggie called Okra
Jefferson Davis was our first President.
Hush Puppies are not made out of dog.
The south shall rise again.
Okra is slimy if you cook it the wrong way.
Salt is good on Watermelon. (NOT)
You get looked at odd if you ask for a shopping cart. (Its called a buggy!)
Do NOT try to say "Y'all" within the first two years of living down here. (at least, not in public.)
If you come from the north, then when you mis-pronounce a word in the south, People think that it is just your "Yankee accent".
Okra is not Slimy if you cook it the correct way.
If you live in the south long enough, the when you mis-pronounce a word up north, they think you've just picked up a southern accent.
In other Countries, a Yankee is an American. Down south, a Yankee is a Northerner. Up north, someone from the northeast is a Yankee. In the northeast a Yankee is a person from New Hampshire.
Never even think about using the words Honest and Abe in the same sentence.
Grits are good with Brown sugar, but only Yankees will eat them that way.
"Hey" is a more common greeting then "Hello"
You don't push buttons down here, you "Mash" them.
Never talk about "THE" war with a southerner if you don't have more then an hour or two.
If you want Real, Hot, Tea, Then you have to say "I would like a cup of Hot Tea". Simply asking for a cup of tea will get you a way too sweet, still slightly warm, cup of Iced "tea".
People who do not like BBQ (such a myself) have something wrong with them.
If you, as a yank, are trying to spy in the south, or you don't want a pop quiz on what your side is in the war between the states, and someone mentions a food you have not heard of, act like you know what they are talking about.
There was no such thing as a civil war.
There was a war of Northern aggression, though.
A southerner accent is not near as bad as they want you to think. (unless they talk really fast, which is rare.)
(fire) Ants are not the sort of thing kids should play with.
